Muragala | CPPP’s senior analyst Harindra B. Dassanayake spoke on trends relating to political parties, media guidelines and regulation of content on digital platforms, and political campaign regulation frameworks, at a post-election debrief organised by Factum.
The Factum debrief session assessed the conduct of digital platforms during the 2024 presidential elections in Sri Lanka. Panel discussions focused on the challenges of tackling dis/mis/mal-information and regulating online content during the elections, and included representatives from the Election Commission of Sri Lanka, tech companies, other civil society organisations such as Hashtag Generation and Media Law Forum, and digital media outlet Hari TV. The event took place at Water’s Edge on 16 October 2024, and was attended by diplomats, academics, government officials, civil society organizations, and media representatives.
