Muragala l Centre for Progressive Politics is conducting a small-scale, targeted relief drive to worst-hit households in the following select areas, where our team members know the local community well. Our team & trusted networks have trusted access to relief officers and can identify the needs and distribute relief items and attend to their specific needs in person. Since many of these areas are still under pressure with the evolving disaster situation, our relief drive will occur in phases.
This small-scale, targeted relief drive will begin in the 2nd week of December 2025 after 15 December, once a more realistic assessment of community needs is made in the post-disaster period. For those who wish to donate for more immediate disaster responses, there are large relief operations conducted by the government and INGOs.
While a general ration pack will be made, we will also be transparently utilising a portion of the funds raised for the more specific & urgent nutritional, health and other needs of these identified families, especially of the elderly, sick, very young, and students whose education is disrupted by the floods.
