Artivism Issue 3 – Call for Submissions!

The current status of the world has placed us in an emotional non-place: detached, unanchored and in subconscious disconnectivity. For us in Sri Lanka, the threat of global conflict translates immediately to things like the return of the petrol queue- a visceral sense of deja vu, an anxiousness, an uncertainty, an uninvited disruption- that triggers the collective trauma of our own recent crisis.

Muragala l Centre for Progressive Politics & Policy invites artistic expressions as political critiques, exploring what it means to be Sri Lankan as the US-Israel war on Iran unfolds. We are looking for work that interrogates our position in the face of this illegal war, specifically capturing the sharp anxiety of recurring events – that capture the wait/weight, the scarcity, and the psychological toll of a country that is perpetually caught in the ripple effects of internal and external aggression.

Theme: “Being Sri Lankan Amid the US-Israel War on Iran”.
