This project is supported by Muragala | Centre for Progressive Politics and Policy (CPPP) and implemented by the Rural Development Foundation (RDF). It aims to empower former female Local Government (Pradeshiya Sabha) members and contestants in Sri Lanka to become active community leaders. Its key objectives are to increase women’s political representation, promote good governance, and reduce corruption through transparency.
The project will select 100 women leaders for capacity-building workshops to enhance their political engagement and leadership skills. Following the training, participants will establish anti-corruption action committees and engage in regional advocacy activities. Additionally, a national network of women leaders will be formed to foster collaboration across political lines, creating educational materials and public awareness campaigns. The project will also generate visibility through media, producing video content and social media posts to highlight the efforts of women leaders in improving governance and challenging patriarchal barriers.
