Muragala | Centre for Progressive Politics and Policy (CPPP) participated in the first International Studies Association (ISA) conference held in South Asia, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from August 6–8, 2026, at the Galle Face Hotel. The conference was organised by ISA’s South Asia in World Politics section (ISA-SAWP). The event brought together an amalgam of scholars working on South Asian politics, international relations, political economy, and other related areas.
On the 8th of August 2026, the panel “Reframing the Global South: Statehood, Crisis, and Political Transformation” was chaired by Harindra B Dassanayake. Sandunlekha Ekanayake, a Research Analyst at Muragala | CPPP, presented a working paper titled “Conspiracy Theories, Conspiracy Narratives or Partial Truths?: Understanding Sri Lanka’s Social and Political Architecture through Conspiracies” as part of the panel. Dr Nimendra Mawalagedara, Research Advisor at Muragala | CPPP presented on a paper titled “The Colonial Timestamp”.
